Fort Bend Democrats

One Last Fundraiser

doorhanger front We are having one last major fundraiser to gather the money needed for some first-class Get Out The Vote doorhangers.

We need some additional funds to purchase these and get them to our Neighborhood Organizers to use for blockwalking. We will also be putting them out in heavily Democratic precincts.

Your help could turn the tide for Democrats in Fort Bend County, and across Texas!

We decided to have a different kind of fundraiser - no speeches or grandstanding, just good food and live music. We will also have some outstanding door prizes - including a framed rally sign certified as being used on the convention floor in Denver. What a legacy to hand down to your grandchildren! With attendance limited to 100 people, your odds of winning a doorprize is good.

We will also have one-of-a-kind auction items for you to bid on.
Please click Read more to get specific information and pictures of the auction items.

Albert Hollan's Remarks Read at the Labor Day Event

[Albert Hollan couldn’t attend the our Labor Day Fundraiser last weekend but he did write down some remarks that were read to the assembly. Albert, you know, underwrote the entire thing. His generosity is a model to us all]

Welcome to Sugar Land, and welcome to my neighborhood.  My family and I have lived just around the corner for the past 20 years.

Convention Night at the Headquarters

Okay, I admit it.  I spent more time watching the tv than taking pictures.

Democratic Convention watching party at the Rosenberg Headquarters We munched on hot dogs and apple pie at both Fort Bend Democrats headquarters while watching Obama make the greatest convention speech in history.
You can find more pictures here of the early crowd.  Sorry I didn’t take many once everyone got there.  I’ll try harder next time! Blockwalking starts tomorrow and our Kickoff event is on Sunday Afternoon.  It’s a great time to be a Democrat!

Convention Report from Kathy Soltani

We got the following report from Fort Bend Democrats member and national delegate, Kathy Soltani —
Fort Bend Democrats member and national delegate Kathy Soltani

Dear Friends,
I don’t think I would do the way I felt yesterday any justice if I were to put it into words. So, I just suffice by saying I had the time of my life. And the best is yet to come!

It is unbelievable how organized and well planned everything is. The speakers are great and there is not even one boring second here. Every time you look around you see a famous reporter or politician go by. The highlight of the evening for me with no doubt was Ted Kennedy. The speech, his powerful presence; and in a way I could feel his two brothers standing next to him. What a moment in history and I was there to take all in LIVE!

East Headquarters Grand Opening!

East Headquarters Grand Opening!

We’ve got the pictures —-

Click right here to see other pictures from the Grand Opening. We’ll be adding more this week and if you have any, please send them to us and we’ll post them here, too.

It was a very successful night with great speeches from Leslie Taylor, Richard Morrison, Albert Hollan, Chris Bell, and a stem-winder from Congressman Al Green.

A special thanks to Skip and Judy Belt for their generous donations to make all this possible, and to National Delegate Kathy Soltani and Obama Fort Bend for the decorations and hospitality.
